Effects of Eye Laser Surgery

Laser eye surgery is a great technique but what are the possible effects that can occur from its use? Even though laser surgery is a lot safer than what it used to be, there are still risks associated to the surgical procedure. Before using this method to correct you eye vision it is important to think about the risks involved in such procedure and the possible outcomes of the surgery. Here is a list of positive or negative effects that may occur after the surgery.

1) You probably will obtain a better vision (in most cases close to 10/10). This is the ideal result wanted by everyone as you will no longer need to wear glasses or wear contact lenses.

2) In some cases you may not have any change in your vision or very little even though the surgeon has tried his best. This is obviously disappointing, but not dramatic as your eye will not be damaged and if ever you want to, you can always proceed to another surgery to rectify what went wrong.

3) Occasionally it happens than patients get a worse vision after laser surgery. Patient tend to think that success rate is at 100% which is in fact no the case. It does happen sometimes that your vision becomes worse. To limit this risk try to get a surgeon who has a good reputation and go to private clinics if you can afford it. If ever this happens, you may take surgery again to rectify your vision again, but in some cases the problem can become unfortunately permanent.

4) During and after the lasik surgical procedure it is possible that you catch an infection even though this is rather rare. This can be painful and annoying. If this happens you will have to take antibiotics or drops to stop the inflammation. This should not influence your vision if you take antibiotics in time.

5) The worse than can occur is loosing your vision totally. Blindless may occur in extreme cases, but this is rare. Nevertheless you eye surgeon should inform you that it can occur. But we aware that the risks for this to happen are extremely low and are often caused by unpredictable and unlucky circumstances.

Cost of Eye Laser Surgery

For those thinking about doing eye laser surgery, you are probably wondering how much this would cost you! In fact the cost of eye laser surgery will vary depending on many differents factors.

The first element which will have an impact on the price of laser surgery is where you live. The price of the procedure is different in each state. For example in the US the price for eye laser surgery in New York is higher than in San Fransisco which is higher than in Colorado!

The second element which will influence the price of your LASIK surgery will be where you decide to be operated. The most expensive locations will be private clinics or speciliazed eye treatments centers but the services and quality of the surgeons will be very high; where as in hospitals, the price will be lower, but the quality of the service an the surgeons will also be probable slightly lower.

So really all depends what you are looking for. If you are looking for a safe and top quality place to have the surgery then go to a private specialized treatment center, as they will take care of you very nicely with famous eye doctors. On the other hand if you are rather short in terms of money then you should go to hospital. Going to hospital does not mean that it is dangerous. Most people are totally satisfied with hospitals and there are rarely problems. Nevertheless there are less risks with a famous eye doctor than with a normal hospital eye specialist.

So what is the average price for LASIK surgery? The average price is around $2000 dollars per eye depending on the criterias mentioned above. My recommendation would be to go in the best treatment location possible because loosing an eye or damaging it for a few hundred bucks would be really stupid. Another solution, if you feel reluctant to laser surgery would be to simply use contact lenses or color contacts where you can even change the color of your eye!

Eye Laser Surgery or contact lenses?

Eye Laser Surgery is becoming more and more used in order to correct vision problems and is becoming a serious alternative to contact lenses. If you are reading this articly i guess you are wondering whether you should go for contact lenses or for eye laser surgery! I would say keep you contacts or color contacts until your vision has stabilized then defenitely go for lasik surgery!

Well the first main advantage of eye laser surgery is that you dont need to wear anything to see proparly. Once the medical surgery has taken place and that your recovery period has ended you will see just as anyone without eye sight issues! This is great for several reasons. The main one is for your look, but also for your comfort! No more head aches or eye aches! I would especially recommend lasik surgery for people who practice sport or who are in the fashion world.

Nevertheless an issue with eye laser surgery is that it is possible (if you are unlucky and did not choose a good surgeon) to have some problems right after the surgery but these will slowly dissappear! Also if your sight is still evolving then, you might need to go back to contact lenses if you did your surgery too early. So it is very important to do surgery only once your vision has stabilized!

All in all i would recommend eye laser surgery as it has become a very safe and frequent surgery which offers you a radical change in your life! No more glasses or contacts! But for those who seem worried about the surgery and possible medicals problems afterwards, you can always wait a couple of years for technology to evolve even more and therefore will minimise the risks!

Lasik Surgery feedbacks

One type of Laser eye surgery is Lasik Surgery. What you must absolutely know is that it consists of a real operation and that it takes quite a while after the operation to have your vision corrected. There are many uncomfortable effects during the period after the lasik surgery. Today as i was surfing on the Internet, I found a blog where a women describes what she went through. Honnestly it calmed me down and makes you think whether to proceed with Lasik surgery!

Basically from what she says is that there is a long and especially difficult healing period after the lasik surgery. The symptoms were the following, at first some blurry vision for several days, then she had double vision for a couple of weeks and here eyes felt dry so she had to take drops ... Some comments of people say that it is impossible to work with these symptoms, so i would recommend taking some holidays after your surgery!

Three months after her first surgery she had a wavefront lasik enhancement and the day following this operation allowed here to have a 20/20 vision so that was good, but unfortunately she had pain in her eyes and could not see from close! This took 3 weeks to heal and get back to normal.

The good part is that everything is fine for here now and she has a 20/20 vision, but what a fuss and difficult healing! Poor women, i really do hope not everyone has a so long and difficult healing! But i guess that since her lasik surgery was done in 2004, technology has evolved and therefore helps quicker healing! For more information please visit her article.

Eye Laser Surgery recommendations

Indeed you can use Eye Laser surgery to correct your vision problems. This new method can be used to correct refractive errors with your sight including well known myopia, hyperopia and also astigmatism (distored vision of objects). It is an alternative to glasses or contact lenses.

If you decide to opt for eye laser surgery it is necessary to do some reasearch at first in order to have information on how to proceed. I will be updating regularly my blog so reading my blog can surely be of a help if you are novice to eye laser surgery. The best technique to get information on this method is to contact friends or relatives who have undergone eye laser surgery recently. Ask them who their eye surgeon his, how well is he known and whether the operation went well or not. Ask your GP if he has any surgeon to recommend, or ask him his opinion on a particular eye laser surgeon your friend has recommended you. Last of all make sure you are a suitable candidate for eye laser surgery as not all vision problems can be solved with this method.

For your information the eye laser surgery is a complex operation where a surgeon uses a laser to make definitive and irrevocable changes to your cornea (more precisely to the shape of the cornea) in order to correct your vision. Overall changing the shape of the cornea can correct mild to moderate refractive errors and therefore correct your vision problem.

Eye Laser Surgery

If you are reading this article then i guess it is because you want to learn more about Eye Laser Surgery ? As you may see i have two other blogs which are related to color contact lenses (The Color Contacts & My Color Contacts) which give you some tips and advices on chosing contact lenses. Eye Laser Surgery being a new method to correct eye vision i thought i had to talk about it as it becoming more and more used but also becoming a more secure and trustful method with the evolution of technology and especially in the medical sector.

The first thing you really need to know about laser surgery is that, as in its name, it requires surgical procedure so it is a very delicate procedure. What you must know is that Eye laser surgery is not for everyone as it cannot help to solve certain eye sight issues. Overall it can cure the majority of people who have eye sight problems but there are always some eye sight problems which cannot be cured. Surely in the future with technology evolving Eyes Surgery will cure more and more eye sight problems. Before asking for eye Laser Surgery please check with your eye doctor that Laser Surgery can solver your sight default.

The second point, is that you should not do eye laser surger before your eye sight has finished evolving and has become stable. This is a very important point as laser surgery for eyes cannot be used regularly to correct your eye sight each time your eye sight becomes worse. Generally you only do Eye Laser surgery once in your life or otherwise you will damage you eye. So before proceeding to laser surgery make sure that your eye sight has been stable for several years.

Furthermore Laser Eye surgery should only be used if using contact lenses or glasses has really becoming impossible for you (high decrease in visibility) or if it is necessary for your job. But please pay attention that there is always a risk when doing surgery and for eyes if things do not go as planned there is always a risk of loosing eye sight! So be aware of this. I would recommend seeing your eye doctor so that he recommends you a good surgeon for the operation.
Hope all this info will help you!
